In a particular power plant, each boiler heats the water to about 540oC (1,000oF) to create steam. The steam is sent into the turbines at pressures of more than 130 kg/cm2 (1,800 lbs/inch2) .

This one plant generates about 10 billion KWH a year, or enough electricity to supply 700,000 homes. To meet this demand, Kingston burns about 14,000 tons of coal a day, an amount that would fill 140 railroad cars.

The Burner Tip which is at the tip of the firing system into the boiler and is exposed to heavy erosion at temperatures upto 1200oC. Usually, Power Station uses stainless steel 310 fabricated tips with hardfacing by electrodes. X’TRALIFE WEARPLATE of Grade    XL-65 in stainless steel, as backing, was used in some Power Stations of the GEB (India), NTPC (India) and in PSEB (India); and, the life extension of 2 times had already being achieved.
